Confirmation: Velka Pardubicka date for 2012 will be October 14th - no, October 13th!

It had been suggested more than a month ago that the date of the 2012 Velka Pardubicka might be moved forward by a week to accommodate a change to the date of the Gold Helmet speedway meeting (Pardubice's second major annual sports event). However, the suggestion was rejected by the Czech Jockey Club, and it is understood that it has now been dropped. The 2012 Velka Pardubicka will be held on its traditional date, the second Sunday in October, i.e. October 14th, 2012.  

Please note that the Jockey Club has now agreed that the Velka Pardubicka will be on Saturday October 13th. The flat race meeting at Pardubice will be on Friday October 12th. The Gold Helmet speedway meeting will be held in Pardubice on Sunday October 14th. The Gold Helmet meeting is quite a major speedway event, and some people may decide that a steeplechasing + speedway weekend in Pardubice is a particularly attractive opportunity.
