Janacek smashes record and continues on


 



Janacek rides 6 winners at Mimon


Vaclav Janacek burst through the record of 48 winners in a season in the Czech Republic at Mimon on Saturday afternoon, and then just carried on winning. He had 4 winners on Saturday and two on Sunday, also at Mimon. We are not yet two thirds of the way through the Czech season. Barring disasters, he will set the kind of record that even he will not easily beat. He curently has 52 winners, 38 more than his nearest challenger, Jiri Chaloupka.

Josef Vana jnr won three of the four races over fences at Mimon at the weekend, and has now established a lead of two in the jumps jockeys' championship. Josef Bartos rode at Mimon on Saturday, and then went to Merano, where he rode a winner for an Italian trainer, and finished 2nd on Lutin des Bordes and 3rd on Silver Regent for Josef Vana.


Helena Blazkova won the opening race at Mimon on Sunday, riding 10-y-o College Classic, on which she finished 2nd in the Czech Derby, more than 7 years ago. Helena has reverted to her maiden name, after being Donovalova for several years. Helena trains College Classic at Lysa, and will have been delighted.
